ALC uses CASAS to evaluate all of our students. This online testing instrument provides consistent and accurate feedback that meets National Reporting System (NRS) standards. CASAS helps guide our instruction by measuring strengths, as well as areas of needed improvement. We strive to ensure every student at our tutoring center gets the feedback they need to succeed during their learning journey.
Our blended approach GED program continues to use an on-line version of the basic texts. Provided by New Readers' Press and powered by BenchPrep. The student is able to learn the core materials in an interactive format with vocabulary flashcards and online games like hangman to facilitate learning of basic material and skills. Wrap-around skills like how to read a test and essay writing are taught in person sessions with a tutor.
We use Transparent Language in all of our ELL courses. Transparent Language is an interactive online learning tool that focuses on memorization, repetition, and pronunciation. The benefit of Transparent Language is that any lesson can be repeated as often as needed. To truly learn a language, you need to be immersed in it. At our tutoring center, you’ll benefit from both lessons based on what you review on your own and one-on-one conversational lessons with a tutor.
